Sean Bean as Eddard Stark is a good news / bad news situation.

Good news is great news: Sean Bean will play Eddard Stark. Needs no elaboration.

Bad news: Same as above, with particular emphasis on the 'Eddard Stark' part, concerning whether or not Thrones goes into later seasons for the later books.

But I suppose that's unlikely, given the way shows get canceled.
