So, one week ago former director calls me and says, "My lead cracked a rib, can you take his place? We open next week." I say I'll give it a shot. Now today, 3 days before opening, the other lead backs out. Because of panic attacks. Director's already sunk $3500 into it, so we forge ahead.
Just wow.

Is it the Scottish play, by any chance?

Somebody must have wished someone "good luck".

No, it's not the Scottish play. But we've stopped saying the title of the play which has the word "lucky" in it.

While doing 'Pericles, Prince of Tyre' in college we had a number of interesting accidents. Our lead fell off the stage. One of the major characters stepped on a hat pin that pierced his heel, which meant he had to miss tech rehearsal and spend the day in the ER. Then, three days before opening, our set caught on fire.
And, strangely enough, the show went off without a hitch. Once we started presenting it, anyway.

Dont worry about anything in the fly space, all that stuff is totally fine.
