I read first two books, I found the first one really nice, although the second one was unbelivably boring, except for the ending.
My question is: will she get bitten in the third book? Is it worth buying? Is it going to get better when (if!) she gets bitten?
I dont want to check it, not to spoil it if it is worth it. Thanks!

I just know there's a reason the books are popular, but based on what little of the books I could honestly manage to read, the mechanisms by which people enjoy them are honestly beyond me. It's like trying to understand why people enjoy soap operas.

I see your point, but there was only Twilight in this bookstore in Beijing and I MUST read when flying:) And I dont like to leave things unfinished if possible

She does not get bitten in the third book. She's turned in the fourth book, a book which even alot of fans really hated.
If you liked the first but were bored by the second book, you'll probably find that the rest of the series disappointing.

Well, as the cliffs notes has it, the series goes from weird to weirdest. I don't think it's worth chasing in the hopes it will turn your favor.

Nah, I think most people who liked the first but not the second were only missing the Bella/Edward dry humping. You'll like the third one just fine; Bella dry-humps pretty much everyone in that book.

I think the difference between the first book and the following three are that the first one benefited from the input of an editor who must have cut out a lot of the boring bits and encouraged the author to raise a lot of interesting moral, emotional and philosophical questions (you know, for a quick read teen book - not that YA can't be amazing).
All of these questions are subsequently ignored, there is less and less editing, and by the fourth book, the author just mostly copy and pasted from a sequel she had written before the first book was even finished (she actually admitted as much - which is why it's so darn weird.).
You might like the third book. Do not touch the fourth one, even with gloves.

Man, I must be a really weird person. Eclipse was my favorite, though the movie disappointed me. And I also really liked Breaking Dawn. I fully understand why others do not like it, but it worked for me.

I actually liked the fourth book the most. It was the only one that I didn't think was utterly boring. Mostly because it focused less on the love story and more towards the fallout of a certain event.

I liked the concept at the beginning of the fourth book--it's what we were all waiting for, just admit it. But the rest of the book was kind of useless bordering on very bad.

Reading the 4th book was a lot like watching Sharktopus. It's terrible, badly written, and completely ridiculous in every way but you feel like you need to continue anyway.
I read the series. I will not re-read any of them. And, I usually re-read books at least once or twice - even ones I didn't really care for.
So far, the Twilight saga and Eragon are on my list of do-not-repeats.

The third is better than the second. Very fast paced and satisfying. As for the fourth, a lot of people thought it had too much gratuitous gruesomeness. I liked it though, I think because I care more for writing than sanity and her writing is better in the fourth book: smoother and less awkward phrasings. It also goes by very quickly for its size.

That is exactly my impression. Yeah the first book is probably the best story and the fourth the worst but the quality of the writing is the exact opposite. The fist book was clearly written by a novice but the writing quality IMO steadily improves throughout. Therefore, third and fourth were my favorites. I had no problem suspending my disbelief in the "weird" parts and could just sit back and enjoy the story.

I thought the first was a good read, the second completely boring and worthless. My favorite is the third that actually got exciting and I cared for what happened. The Forth is only better than the second because it had an interesting premise, but the second half should have been one or two chapters to bring the series to a close. I really liked her mini-book and feel it her best writing and story telling.

I liked her mini-book too, and her book The Host. The good thing about Stephenie Meyer is that she's still clearly improving as a writer. You can lay all her books out in order of publication and see that happening. She hasn't yet hit the plateau where writers just start churning out mediocre repeats of their best work.

The first book was ok. The second was fine it had more of a story line I thought than the first. I liked the third book the best. I hated the forth book. Although I did get bored with the series pretty quick. However the books were a Christmas gift so I felt I had to finish them.

I really enjoyed The Host. I enjoyed it more than her other books. I thought the story was great and it left me wanting more. From what I understand it is supposed to be a trilogy. I might actually purchase the next book instead of borrowing it from my sister in law.
I believe they are also working on a movie adaptation.

That would be cool. I also think The Host is her best work yet. Yeah it's a bit of a cliche premise but she gives it just enough of a fresh spin to make it wonderful.
