Hey all, I passed my thesis defense today.

I should technically wait until the thesis is signed, the diploma granted, the hood...hooded. But just for tonight I'm calling myself Dr. Jones.

The degree is in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department (I live in the EE side of the house).

The emphasis is on decision and estimation theory. The thesis title (at the moment) is "Coherent Approximation of Distributed Expert Assessments."

Congrats! In my department we start calling our defendee "Dr." right away and put doctor on the nameplate outside the door.
