I love Card's adaptations of three Shakespeare plays, but I'd like to go with The Tempest this year.
Rehearsal time is shorter than I'd like, so I want to do an adaptation, but I don't want to sink as low as No Fear Shakespeare.
Does anyone know of any adaptations that, like OSC's, stick to the structure of the play while modernizing some of the vocabulary?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Redpill, maybe you would want to read 'Last call' (1985) by Harry Mulish (a Dutch author). It is a novel about an actor playing in a stage play called 'The Tempest'. In the Netherlands, it's a famous book, there is also a movie made from the book. It is very interesting as to the interpretation of Shakespeares 'The Tempest', but it is 25 years ago I read it, so I cannot tell you more than that. I'd like to hear more from you, as I think The Tempest is fascinating. In the meantime, I'll read 'Last call' again, I have it here, so maybe we can talk about it later. Success!

Check out an amazing short novel called Caliban's Hour. It is the story of Caliban hunting down Miranda post-Tempest in order to kill her. At under 200 pages, it is far too short for such an amazing treatment.
