My roommate made a malapropism the other day that worked great as a portmanteau:

Attentative: adj; from "tentatively attentive:" that state where you're in class and are trying to be attentive, but get caught off guard when the teacher calls on you, and you realize that you aren't sure whether you were actually paying attention.

My room mate just invented "embarrassment empathy." The feeling you get when you have to pause TV or turn away from it or from a book because you can't bear to look at the super awkward thing a character is doing.

I call it the Michael Scott Effect.

Yack hole, noun;

A person whose conversational direction always trends strongly towards the self.

Example:

"Its really hard waiting for your husband to get out of prison for a crime he didn't commit.

"Oh! Don't I know it?! When my husband goes away on business trips leaving me with our four noisy children it felt just like a prison. I'm actually writing a blog about being a mommy, you really should check it out!"
