In the months I've been here, I've been called many things. FToad, FToaS, Toad, Flaming, Toad, Flaming toad on a stick, oh immolated one etc. My screen name has also been used in derogatory ways e.g.;"toads such as yourself" and "stupid ignorant toad".

If anyone really cares, y'all can really just call me Toad, or Alex. You don't need to come up with weird acronyms for my screen name.(Yeah, I know, that's half the fun.)

Anyway, just having some fun at this ungodly hour.

Toad

P.S., BTW(LOL) My screen name comes from a play I co-wrote/acted in. I played a recorder player in a garage band. One of the names we tossed around as a band name was Flaming Toad on a Stick.

P.P.S.(pwnge) What does your screen name mean?

I'm reminded of this skit from A Bit of Fry and Laurie.

"Call me an unrestrained arsewit if you like"
"Maybe later"

But I shall call you Alex. Nice to meet you. My name is not, as many people think, Evie. It is in fact Abby.

Oh, and I changed my mind. I believe I shall address Alex as Will.

My daughter has taken to lately putting the phrase "on a stick" as a suffix to almost everything she says. "That is coolness- on a stick!". [Roll Eyes]

but I thought she got it from some comedian/ventrioloquist or something.

Either way, it's cool.

Thank you, Alex, for the explanation of your screen name--I have wondered! (now whether I'll remember Alex is another story, but I should be able to remember "Toad" ;-)

Reminds me of El JT de Spang's landmark beginning "Call me JT." Helpful info!

As for my screenname--it means I was used to going by Kris(VA) on a couple of other forums, but then I moved away from Virginia and didn't know if I was moving back or where I was going to end up, so I just went with Uprooted!

Alex, in Russian, is Sasha.

Search the threads for Sasha anyone who doesn't know why I truly love that name.

FG, there is a ventriloquist who is quite hilarious. One of his puppets is a Jalepeno, on a stick. Throughout the routine, the puppet keeps adding "on a stick" to just about anything else said.

Has she been reading any Terry Pratchett lately? There's a street vendor called Cut-Me-Own-Hand-Off Dibbler who sells various things on a stick.

Yeah -- I think that's the one. She talks about him and Jalepeno and is always mimicking them. I haven't seen it, personally.

Tante means Aunt
Shvester means Sister.

I am both an aunt and a sister, and I have some people who call me Tante and some who call me Shvester.

I also go by Esther, which rhymes with Shvester.

Tante, by the way, rhymes with "want a", not with Dante.

I dunno, what. What if everyone started talking like "Call me Yoda you will"?
Then there's the absurd* "Who's on first" problem.

* The Yankees never had a tardis player.
