What should i read next! I've finished Ender's Saga, Shadow, and am i'm almost done Homecoming. I'm also waiting for the next book in, Artemis Fowl, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and the Dread Empire's Fall! I dont really want to read Alvin because i dont reallly like Historical fiction much. Any suggestion folks? Thanks in advance for all the help!

Have you read any George R.R. Martin? I highly recommend the Song of Ice and Fire trilogy.

Alvin is only kind of historical. It is definately an alternative universe, a fantasy. But instead of being set in medieval like times, it is set in nineteenth century like times, and on the North American continent, though many of the villages never existed.

Another good read is Robin Hobb, but she is also fantasy. Dave Wolverton is fantasy. If you want science fiction, I like Gene Wolfe, Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov, E.E.Doc Smith (if you think Asimov is 'outdated' then I guess you really won't go for Smith), David Brin is interesting, Nancy Kress, Anne Mccaffery might appeal to you.

Card has a few other books out there too. Try The Worthing Saga and Treason.

Don't dismiss anything out of hand. Give it a try. I wouldn't read Lord of the Rings for years, and yet I had read the Shanara books. I shudder now. And many is the non-fantasy or science fiction book that my mom convinced me to read that I thought was wonderful.

Well if you like the Ender/Bean, just to tell you if you haven't heard yet (oh how nice of me), Shadow of the Giant, sequelling Shadow Puppets, is coming out in March, a tie-in between Ender and Bean series is announced, and OSC says he might go back to do his "Mazer Rackham" book(s). Until March, [Dont Know]

give asimov's I, Robot a try. it's a collection of short stories (that isn't a thing like the movie, i promise). it's a pretty quick read, and it's a decent intro to asimov. Bradbury's The Illustrated Man may also be worth a shot. again, a collection of short stories.

"The Tales of Alvin Maker" are another series that OSC has written. The start with Seventh Son, and go on with Red Prophet, then something, something, something else...

Alternative historical fiction. great character development. If you've already plowed through Ender, I'd give this a go. Or try the Homecoming series.

I loved OSC's Enchantment and Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus. Give those a shot. [Smile]
