Does anyone know if orson's books were inspired by his own life? If so, how? I'm doing a project for school and can't find ANYTHING!!! [Wall Bash]

I suggest reading Maps in a Mirror. It is a collection of short stories he has written. But also, Card goes into a lot of detail about how the stories came about. As with any writer, Card's own life does impact a lot on his writings, but the way it shows up differs with every book.

When you read that, and a few essays he's written, along with his books, you can get an idea of how the stories and the man mesh.

He also talks a lot about his writing process in the comments in Folk of the Fringe.

Check out 'Lost Boys', either the novel or the short story. In his post-script to the short story Card explains what elements of the story are autobiographical. It's also an amazing story which blows me away and drives me to tears every time I read it.

That short story is part of Maps in a Mirror which Amka suggested.
