I recently finished reading Ender's Shadow through Shadow Puppets (I have yet to purchase SOTG) for about the 3rd time and have become interested in the strategic aspects of the novels. I was wondering what books were useful to OSC in developing the tactical aspects of these novels and if anyone else has read anything good on military strategy.

I haven't read it, because I have no interest in the topic, but The Art of War is supposed to be the best book for this. [Dont Know]

The Art of War is great. [Smile]

But I guess I should mention I haven't read any other military strategy books.

"On War" by von Clausewitz.

Probably also Machiavelli's "The Prince", although it isn't directly about war.

Biographies of good generals will often talk a lot about the strategies they employed. You can usually learn quite a bit from them.
One of the better ones I read was Blood and Iron: From Bismarck to Hitler the Von Moltke Family's Impact on German History. It wasn't entirely focused on military strategy, but it contained a lot of great information on the wars which gave rise to Germany's unification. It was a very interesting read.

I read a good one on Rommel's desert campaigns, but I don't remember the title.

You might try Osprey Publishing. I've got a fantastic little book published by them on the battle of the Kalka river. It goes into a fair amount of detail about both the strategy and tactics of the Mongols and the Russians in the 13th century.
