So, what's up Orson! In your viewpoint, Do they exist or not?
(By the way, I just finished Xenocide and, I'd like to say that I love what you write, how you write it, the situations you create, all of your characters, christianity and aliens, and you probably play a mean game of Risk too!)

Well, judging from your attitude, lego feet, I can pretty much guarantee that Mr. Card will ignore your post. Things like politeness and respect for others go a long way with him, and the absence of those qualities is something he has a tendency to frown on. Along with 99% of the people here, I might add. If you actually wish a response, please behave in a calm and rational manner in the future

IMHO, the science just isn't there to speculate as to weather they exist or not. One might just as well try to guess what color socks you're wearing.
I've seen no lack of politeness and respect from others from lego feet in this thread. I'm not sure what you're refering to.

Lego showed more restraint than I would've when responding to those kind of comments. I didn't see any disprespect. This Dryden lady is just trying to score cool points with OSC, it seems. And seriously, people, "rationality" is not an all-purpose word to accuse those you dislike of lacking. It has an accepted meaning, and I'm sure it would appreciate being used appropriately. "...calm and rational manner"? Blech.
Anyway, I suspect OSC's stance on aliens is that of any other reasonable adult: "Who knows?" Some people lean towards yes, others towards no, but no sane person claims certainty either way.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. Obviously I understood a different connotation than was meant. It can be hard sometimes to correctly interpret the spirit intended behind internet posts, and I apparently screwed up.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints does believe that Earth is just one of "worlds without number" that God has created for his own purposes, and that there are inhabitants on many of these other worlds (See 'The Pearl of Great Price-The Book of Moses' Chapter 1, verses 33-35)...but nothing more has been revealed about them.

But don't read too much into that idea and go telling your friends that "Mormons believe in aliens!"

Of course he meant "terrestrials," so why not give a playful answer? Man, it's a good thing you have 20,000 posts, or I might think you were a tool.

Please forgive my mispelling of terrestrial. And please forgive my harsh, un-calm and radical behavior. I was completely out of line and I am pretty sure I put many lives and identities in danger. That was really a close call.
But now that Orson is not going to respond, I think I am going to express what I really think of the initial replies to my thread.
Please, never do that again on any internet forum ANYWHERE, EVER! You are an albatross on the neck of communities across the internet. Nobody cares about simple spelling errors. There is not a single person who cares. You are the only person that it bothers. So, like other things that only bother YOU, you should keep it to yourself and deal with it in your own personal manner. You are a creation of God. A wonderful person. And for that, God has sent angels to protect and watch over you. I am sure of that. You may have kids and you may be a wonderful parent and role model to them. You may be very important to somebody; you may have done something incredibly altruistic for that person and continue to do incredibly altruistic things for that person or people. For the love of Mother Teresa, you just might BE the re-incarnation of Mother Teresa herself!!!! But when you NIT PICK and SPUR at SIMPLE, insignificant, INCOINCIDENTAL spelling errors on posts made on humanity's beautiful internet, I will be damned if you aren't the runt child of Satan himself, and I would do all it took to erase your hellacious, nitpicking posts forever from the internet and cast them into the seas of oblivion, into a mathematically unrecoverable state, into the atramentous void of a black hole, into HELL, into the firey lake of brimstone, re-located into the spicy, burning anus of Saint Lucifer....
I hope you get my point! Don't be "That Guy".

Are you sure you meant to say INCOINCIDENTAL? Maybe you meant inconsequential? I couldn't find incoincidental in the dictionary, but I did find Incoincident:
1 entry found for Incoincident. Incoincident
\In`co*in"ci*dent\, a. Not coincident; not agreeing in time, in place, or principle.
Reminds me of a Princess Bride scene.

No one has a problem with spelling errors. They're unavoidable, and everyone makes them from time to time.
The issue is that when it's an obvious one (such as a word in the thread title) due to not proofreading, that implies that you don't care enough about your question give the topic even a perfunctory glance before posting. That is a problem.
Another thing you'll notice with Hatrack (if you hang around long enough) is that the people here skew a little more intelligent and well read than your average internet forum poster. If you make a spelling/grammatical error, you can almost be sure someone will call you on it.

Wait... does this mean that E.T. isn't a documentary?
It'd be strange to me if there were no other intelligent life in the universe, since it's so very big. Plus, they did find those fozzilized remains on Mars and... the face.
Also, I thought lego feet's little jab was humorous and not out of place at all. It's not like he threw insults and full caps at Boon.

That's cool. But you'll have to forgive the sane and proportioned among us if we continue to not give two overcooked poptarts about typos and those who whine about them.

I couldn't care less about typos (as I mentioned, they happen to everyone). I was just trying to shed some light on why whoever it was reacted the way they did.
So you can point your grubby pop-tart coated fingers elsewhere.

People who cannot spell should be hung, drawn, quartered, crucified, boiled in oil, and ridden out of town after being tarred and feathered. Purely for the encouragement of others.

Whereas whining about people who whine about them IS worth your concern?
I wonder if this trendline continues, so that whining about people who whine about people who whine about typos is in fact incredibly important work.

OSC is sporadic in nature. He'll disappear for weeks (or years) then suddenly reappear in the middle of the night and comment all over the place.
