personally I hate the new trilogy
and I know there are many more who agree with me

the original three were works of art
but lucas screwed himself with the last trilogy
not that that matters
people still pay mass amounts of money for them

and now I hear there's a star wars television series coming out
(heard it from lucas's own mouth)
nothing is sacred anymore

So, what's the point of this topic? And how is it related to a discussion on OSC?

I've been told the old ones were classics and revolutionary for their time. The new ones... not so much.

Apparenty, you had to have been there. For instance, the whole "No, Luke... I am your father" gig didn't have the effect it might've had on me had I not already known.

The old ones also were beautifully limiting to Lucas' make everything fargin saturated, over perfect, and CGI tendencies.

The new ones have fewer limits and so we get Jar-Jar, and oversparkly cities and vehicles.

I'm not quite sure why it should even matter to you what other people felt about it. You yourself admit that you think it is a good move. Obviously some people like it more, some people like it less. To each his own.

Some people may have reasons for why they may like it more than you did. Perhaps some people felt a personal connection to some of the characters, ideas, or philosophies that you do not share. Hardly a reason to belittle someone.

I happen to really like Italian food. That just happens to be my preference. In response you could say, "It's good, but it ain't that good." Fine, but I hardly feel I should be judged on the basis of such a simple opinion. Describing a person as a freak for having an opinion that you do not share or do not understand seems a bit extreme.

The fact that the original still has the second highest box-office earning means nothing, apparently. J/K, I also agree that the newer ones are no where near the quality of the originals, but I still enjoyed them.

"no where near the quality of the originals"?! What about this deeply stirring piece of dialogue:

Padme: Don't do this Anakin, you're a good person.
Anakin: I'm doing this for us.
Padme: You're breaking my heart!

Didn't take that Oscar worthy moment into consideration did ya?
