Liked the article a lot, everyone should read books by Diana Wynne Jones!
Unfortunately, it seems like OSC has either not read Castle in the Air by Diana Wynne Jones, or he has not watched Castle in the Sky, by Miyazaki. While the names are familiar sounding, they are *completely* different. I hope OSC reads this or someone who knows him can relate this information.
People should read/watch both of them! Castle in the Sky (or Laputa if you live in Japan), is a Miyazaki classic adventure story abuot a mysterious lost city in the clouds, trying to be found by an evil government and air pirates (air pirates!). Castle in the Air is a fun sequel to Howl's Moving Castle. The characters are different, but it's in the same universe.
