Well, I just picked up a copy from Barnes and Nobles and read it through. On average, the book wasn't all that great, to be honest. Most of the stories rehashed the same old fantasy cliches and bored me before I got but ten, twenty pages into them. And if you're writing a fifty-page story and can't capture your reader in twenty of those fifty, you're definitely lacking in something.

The one story I really did like [insert appropriate fanboy-ness here] was Dragon House. Once more, Card's proven himself a very good storyteller, though I had to reread the last page twice before it finally sank in what it meant--and honestly, it sort of freaked me out.

So, here's my question: The intro to this story said OSC was now expanding Dragon House into a novel. Is that project underway? About when can we expect that to hit the market? And can we, in the spirit of the Katrina fundraisers, please-pretty-please purchase a character to be named after ourselves therein? [Wink]

That story reminded me a lot of Caroline by Neil Gaiman. I really liked it.

I had thought that Magic Street was going to be the noveliztion of that short story. I was wrong.
