From reading the page about OSC, I understand that you served in and around Sao Paulo Brazil. My brother is currently serving in the Porto Alegre South Mission, and went to the Sau Paulo MTC. I was just wondering if the list in the about OSC page contains all of the places that you served in. My brother was interested, especially considering he is a huge fan.

I knew someone who served in Porto Allegre. Seems like it was kind of far away, apart from the MTC part, but I don't know if there was an MTC at Sao Paulo in the early 70's...
If you look at the intro to Stone Tables there is some discussion about OSC's work in the mission office.

OF course the MTC was called the LTM (Language Training Mission) in 1971, and it was in Provo; the Brazilian MTC was far in the future then.

I served in the following areas, from beginning to end of my mission (all durations approximate):

LTM (Provo)
1 week in Pedreira, in Sao Paulo
4 months in Araraquara
4 months in Ribeirao Preto
2 weeks in Itu
1 month in Campinas
1 week in Aracatuba
9 months in Sao Paulo, working in the mission office as editor and printer
1 month in the Perdizes area of Sao Paulo
2 months in Lapa

the Brazil Central Mission consisted of the state of Sao Paulo and a bit of the state just south; it was divided halfway through my mission, and my portion, the Brazil North Central, was only the state of Sao Paulo, minus Sorocaba and Santos, with the city of Sao Paulo divided between two missions.

More than you wanted to know ... but you asked.

I served in Porto Alegre South, March 1999 - April 2001.

It's about an 18 hour bus ride south of Sao Paulo (so the members told me).

I spent time in each MTC (Provo and SP). In fact, last Thursday marked 7 years since I arrived in Porto Alegre. Whoa.

May the Lord bless your brother, Jahlimolt.

I served in Ribeirão Preto and near Araçatuba (really Birigui, right next door). For perspective, the areas he served in are now divided among five missions at least - Ribeirão Preto and Campinas are mission centers, there are four São Paulo missions, Ribeirão had (at the time) 4 stakes...

One of my companions found a Book of Mormon (Livro de Mormon) that he'd left with an old woman during his week in Araçatuba - she told him she'd had it for a while, so she didn't need a new copy. [Smile]

'Course, it was just a pleasure for the Hegemon's compound to be in Ribeirão (Blackstream! Hah!). If there might be guidance from OSC as to where in the city it was, I'd be interested to know. And having Bean hide in Araraquara was great as well.
