I was in the cafeteria at work re-reading Crystal City when I got to the part about Alvin and Arthur-Stuart making the crystal bridge over the lake. When Alvin got to the other side and saw Arthur laying face down on the ground with his bloody wrists in the water, while Papa Moose and Mama Squirrel pray and sing, gripping the bridge with his rigid hands I almost started sobbing. As it is, I let several tears slip. Yeah, people looked at me funny. Gah! That is embarrassing.
Has OSC ever made you cry in public? In private, may times for sure, but at work? oh the humanity!

I've often cried on the bus or train while reading OSC. But then again I've also laughed out loud. Crying quietly doesn't get nearly as strange a look as laughing out loud does. Then people think you are truly crazy.

Just be glad I wasn't the one singing. Talk about making you cry....
Yes, I've cried many, many times in public reading OSC books. At restaurants, on the elliptical or exercise bike at the gym, etc. I can actually find tears just reminiscing about some of the books, rather than having to be actually reading them.

Oh yeah! Was in the park during the scene with Human entering the third life <sniff>.
Also giggled to tears in a restaurant during some of the first exchanges between Wang Mu and Peter. Funny stuff!

Quite a few things from OSC's books have made me cry...the story in The Folf of the Fringe about the kids that get locked in the closet made me sob straight for about 45 minutes (truth be told, what hapenned after the guy told the story also made me shed some tears). Luckily I wans't in public at the time, heh.
