I don't know about anybody else, but I am freaking excited to read Pathfinder. I don't normally get excited or even care about upcoming book releases because there is already so much out there I haven't read yet, but I actually pre-ordered this one the other day.

My tire blew up on the freeway last night on the way home from work, and I'm supposed to get it taken care of at lunch....But I'll probably end up putting that off so I can go buy Pathfinder.

Finished my copy last night. Amazing book. Easily in OSC's top ten.
It's got all the Card tropes - smart kids with twisted relationships to elders, political and historical intrigue, evolutionary speculation, games with time - and there are background conceptual echoes of everything from Wyrms to Pastwatch to Treason. But the storyline itself is gloriously new, and unlike anything Card has done before. (Though as usual, the characters are distinct and memorable.)
The climax pulls together so many disparate strands of history and character and plot that ... well, let's just say that once you've read the first chapter or two, there is simply no good place to stop 'til you're done with the entire thing. Despite the marketing, it's neither "YA" or "Adult", nor is it particularly definitely "fantasy" or "science-fiction" - it's just a damn fine novel.

Ender's Game was my favorite book. It took someone over a year to get me to read it but when I finally did I loved it. Then I could never shutup about the entire series.

I've had this online name for half my life. Of the few ways it's been shortened I have come to prefer, "SG."

Finished it last week. It was very good. For some reason I thought it was supposed to be in the same world as Stonefather. I probably heard wrong because I never saw a connection between the two.
I only had one little niggle with the book, but I'll save that for a thread with spoilers.

I absolutely loved the book. As I was nearing the end of the book I was wondering how it would end. Then it just..did. It seems like it was cut off right in the middle of a chapter.
I'm hooked, and the book left me wanting more. Can't wait until the next one comes out. Is this series supposed to be a trilogy? Longer?
It's going to be difficult to juggle both the Serpent World series and the Mithermages series.

I thought that the book ended pretty much where you'd expect it to -- the major questions have been answered, the big goal that has been driving the group for most of the book has been accomplished, and they just found out that the universe is much bigger than than they'd previously realized. To continue much longer and do it any justice, you'd need a whole 'nother book.

I wasn't complaining, I just thought it was a strange way to end the book. I agree that it was obvious the end of the book was coming. What didn't make sense was the way the chapter was ended. It just didn't feel like one. I was looking for a little more closure to the chapter than just "Let's find that water!"

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and can't wait for the second to come out!! THats the trouble about getting books soon as they come out, I just want to gobble up the whole series at once and have to wait! aargh!
I particularly loved the convoluted way that time travel worked! And Umbo's fooling around with it; what kid WOULDN'T want to play games with it??

Agreed. No one I know understands half of what I'm talking about whenever I get on the subject. I blame it on the numerous times I've read the book. 12th grade English was excellent because it had EG as a curriculum book, and I didn't need to read to keep at or above their understanding. Pretty sure I've just assimilated that book into my brain by now.
