I doubt this book will ever be made into a film, but as I come close to finishing up Magic Street, I keep on hearing the voice of a popular actor as the character Puck - Morgan Freeman. I don't know if it is the choice of words, but it is odd, never before has a character's voice jumped out at me so strongly. However I am not sure if he fits the look of a Puck...

Strange that you posted this question...When I read this book, I constantly pictured an actor whenever Puck was in a scene. I usually don't do this. I usually just create the characters image in my head, and it is a unique image (not hollywood related). However, when I read Magic Street I always pictured Harold Perrineau in my head. He's on Lost and Oz, and he was Link in the Matrix. I think the main reason I kept picturing him as Puck was because he played Mercutio in that horrible Leonardo DiCaprio Romeo and Juliet (the shakespeare reference). Actually, I looked him up on IMDB and it looks like he also played Ariel in a made for TV version of The Tempest. That's my favorite Shakespeare play, I'd love to see that. Anyone seen it before? So that's my thoughts on that. If Magic Street were ever made into a movie, I think Harold Perrineau would be an excellent choice.

Yes! You are absolutly correct, he does have the look! I love LOST and yet I forgot about Harold Perrineau...

Morgan Freeman was who I was thinking of; but I also assume that someone cheaper will be cast, if the movie is ever made.

The sad thing is, one reason it probably won't get made is that the parts are too balanced - there's no STAR. Therefore, it doesn't attract the attention of actors looking for star vehicles, and therefore ... well, you get the picture. Someday somebody will notice it and it will get made. I thought it was a slam dunk - it's one of my most visual, filmable books - but ... Hollywood runs by its own rules.

As for Perrineau (Michael from Lost) he'd be wonderful in the part.

I would LOVE to see a film version of this book. It's one of my favorite OSC books and as he said, extremely visual. In fact I don't think I've ever pictured a book so vividly in my mind as I did this one. Like I said earlier, this is one of the only books where I've ever actually put an actors face to a character.
