Hi guys how are you doing? Hope you are all well. I have some good news. OSC wrote an original Enders story for us called Gold Bug so we can put out as comics.

Here are some images:

You can read more about the story here:

We are looking for feedback, please post replies here for me or email me at ldabel@dabelbrothers.com

Thanks.

That looks cool.
Can't wait to get this because I'm interested in seeing some visual depictions of the Enderverse!

Eventually, he is elected governor, until a replacement arrives – Ender Wiggin.
quote:
Due to the technical aspects of relativistic space travel, fourteen-year-old Ender finds himself in charge of a colony that has existed for decades without him, and many of the younger colonists resent the fact that the Fleet has sent a “mere child” to be their governor.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Ender leave on the very first colony ship heading for the very first colony, thus making him the first govenor? The colony couldn't have existed for decades before he got there unless he left decades after everyone else (in which case, he wouldn't be 14), and we know from EG and the Shadow books that he left almost immediately after the war ended.

The colonies were settled first by the soldiers who fought the formics...Battles in the wars took place near many Formic planets, and once the war was over, those who fought there settles each of these planets.

Ender did leave on the first colony ship...the planet in this story is one of those settled by the retired soldiers...

The fact that Jin Han is pencilling means I'm going to be paying for this.

You couldn't have found a better illustrator.

Is this why he can't work on your little project, Scott? [/vague]

That looks awesome! I can't wait to see more.

I believe it will be out early summer as part of the Marvel/Dabel Brothers-published hardcover edition of the "Red Prophet/Alvin Maker" comics. There will be two versions of that hardcover released -- bookstore and comic shop -- and both will have "Gold Bug."

Hello, everyone. I'm taking a break from working on the comic, and wanted to drop by Hatrack to see if there was any buzz on The Gold Bug.

Scott, you are too kind, my friend. I am really sorry that I wasn't able to help you get the comic started. It's a great story, and I wish you all the best! If you ever need a cover artist... [Wink]

Jake, thanks for the words of encouragment! I'll have the new page ready tomorrow.

naledge: I'm glad you like what you've seen so far. It's been a challenge in trying to bring the Ender Universe to an illustrated format. I hope I do it justice!

vonk: If The Gold Bug does well, it definitely gives the next Ender-based comic a better chance at seeing print! That's why fans need to spread the word. I am, first and foremost, a fan of the Ender Saga, and want to see ALL the books published in comic format.

The comic is moving along just fine, and I really hope the fans will enjoy what we've been working on!

Thanks!

Wow, what a great idea! I've thought for a long time that the Enderverse books would translate well to comics.

The art looks fantastic, Jin--I can't wait to see the finished product! It's great to have it to look forward to this summer!

What's up Les? Frisco of the BwB here. Long time no see, eh?

I saw it mentioned on your site that you're doing more Enderverse short stories in the near future. Any idea of how many, how soon, and if they'll be published indepently or in a compilation? I mean, I'm sure you have an idea, but is there non-top secret info you can share with John Q. Public yet? [Razz]
