A while back I read a statement by OSC in which he explains why he writes about "bad things" (violence, abuse, etc). I can't remember if I read it here on Hatrack or if it was somewhere else. Can anyone help me find it?

Thanks, Scott, these are both great essays (And I appreciate that yours was shorter than that of our venerable host).
