OSC admitted himself that the whole affair with this book on Snape is a blatant attempt at a quick cash out. I am all for that but isn't it obsolete now when the last HP book is just around the corner? I would expect that this debate should have been published months ago, if ever...

HP won't be out for a whole month. Of course, I'm not sure if I'll be through the first six by then.

Hasn't the Great Snape Debate been available for some time now?

A "whole month" is not a long time, when the sixth book has been out for nearly two years. I don't know how long the Snape book has been out, but I don't think it's been more than a month or so...I agree that this book definitely should have been out sooner.

I thought so. I posted this right after I saw the announcement on the main page that the book will be available soon. Perhaps, it is the announcement that is obsolete...

I finished rereading Half Blood Prince this morning. Argh. I should have started later, or read slower.

Well, I'm happy to report I finally sought out a Borders store here in Memphis and shelled over the money (happy to support Hatrack & OSC) for this little ditty. I'll be reading it for the next few days I'm sure. Not really in the mood tonight though.

lol.. I don't really care all that much. Harry Potter lost it's charm for me in book 5. I keep reading, so I know what happens, but I do it more as a chore now than anything else. When it stopped being fun, and started getting depressing, I lost any amount of real interest I had.

But that's when the snogging commences!

I'm probably going to finish Half Blood Prince today. I still might buy this sucker, something to tide me over to July 21.

Okay, I've never read Harry Potter, but I do enjoy reading OSC discussing fiction and morality, etc., and so I read his snape dabate linked from the front page. I know the last book is out, and I'm curious what ended up happening--but not enough to read the book, let alone the whole series (maybe when I have kids [Wink] )

So, anyone want to spoil it for me? Why did snape kill Dumbledore?

SPOILERS

Like OSC predicted, it's because Dumbledore told/asked him to. There are a copule of reasons for this -- Dumbledore was already dying and had only months to live anyway adn to keep Malfoy, who had been given the assignment to kill him, from turning into a murder.

That's exactly what my father predicted when I first told him the almighty "Snape killed Dumbledore" greeting. And the really funny thing is that he hasn't read any of the books.

Actually what OSC had predicted was that Dumbledore wasn't dead in the first place -- OSC was wrong about that prediction.
