O.o I'm from Cincy too (currently in Lawrenceburg Indiana at the moment, about 5 minutes from the Ohio and Kentucky borders. I can see I275 from my front porch.).
I haven't read the books in a while, but I remember asking myself the same thing and concluding that it was either the Little Miami, or the Miami. (or were those actual rivers in the books? I can't remember...) I don't have my copy of those books anymore. I loaned them out and forgot who I gave em to.
I always found it funny how much stuff around here is named after Harrison (Harrison Ave. Harrison, OH. etc.) considering how Card portrays him in the book. lol

In there, spelled "My-ammy" or something like that.
I just want to know, this is totally bugging me. The last few times I've read through it, I didn't really think about it, but now, it's totally bugging me.

I thought there was a map in the front of Seventh Son. Maybe you could match that up with a modern map and sorta figure it out. I'm from Texas, so my knowledge of the geography of your area isn't very extensive.

I don't know about Carthage City. There is a neighborhood in Cincinnati called Carthage, apparently (it has its own zip code) - at least what I gather from my googling. I found a map that sounds interesting: http://www.davidrumsey.com/detail?id=1-1-32552-1151922&name=Cumminsville but I can't view it.
I've been to Carthage, here in Cincinnati, and from the description in the books and the maps, we're definitely living here in Carthage City, heh heh. Thanks for the river stuff.
