First let me say that I am glad to have finally found the Ender Saga. I was gearing up for a six hour drive, for the Thanksgiving holiday. I decided to grab a book from the Navy Exchange. I looked around for my usual reading choices, history, Star Wars, hunting and fishing magazines, to my dismay the NEX lacking anything new for me to read. On my way out of the store I noticed a section that was designated as “Navy Reading”. I still do not know exactly what qualifies a book for this status, but I am pleased that this is what prompted me to buy Enders Game.

I found my self unwilling to put the book down, even when it was “my turn” to drive. Once we had arrived at our destination I told my Grandmother (an ardent Si-Fi fan, and the one that most likely started my love for it as well) that I was reading one of the best Si-Fi books ever to be written. I told her how this was the first book that ever made me feel for the characters. I felt bad for Ender. I wanted his sister to overcome her “evil” older brother. Being in the military I understood what the officers felt.

After a few hours I put the book down with a sigh. For in the print that I had purchased there was no mention of any other Ender stories. However the next morning through the magic of the World Wide Web I found this site. I have now learned that I have some catching up to do. My grandmother will be reading Enders and perhaps she too will become a fan. I hope so, this way I can buy her the books for Christmas. (What do you get for the people that have all they need?)

Well it is time to close this so that I can call the local book store and see if they have the Bean Saga. I am unable to capture in words what my mind dreams up. Thank you Mr. Card for doing so well what few even attempt.

Ahhh the memory of the my first time reading Ender's Game. Welcome to Hatrack! I know you'll enjoy reading the rest of them. Hop over to the other side of the river (Books, Films, Food, and Culture) and introduce yourself to the rest of the forum!

Welcome, Ollof.

It's great that you enjoyed Ender's Game, and I hope you enjoy the many and varied sequels.

You'll probably enjoy the Bean saga a lot.

Glad to have you here!

Great first post, Ollof! If your grandmother likes the book, point her our way too!

What other SF do you like? What about her?

Thank you all for the kind words. I normaly do not put my thoughts down vary well. I make spelling and grammar errors that my 8yr old laughs at.
I love Star Wars, in the pure Han shot first way. The old movies are better then the new and I think that GL pushes to much SW "crap" on to the market place. There are R-2 Post Office drop boxes for cryen out loud.
My grandmother wont use the web site....she has used the web since it started and never once has she even seen a forums page.
She likes all Si-Fi she perfers Star Trek to Star Wars, X-files, Heros, SG1 but she did not like the Battlestar Galactica remake. I think it is great show.
Anyhow thanks again, I will have to take a look at the other forum, see if I can toss in my .02. I was wondering does the man him self post on the forums? Thanks again.

He posts rarely; there have been times in the past when he's had spurts of posting, probably between projects.

Ever seen Firefly? For me it's pretty much the gold standard for SF on TV. Only 14 episodes were made, but there isn't a clunker among them.

Oh, and definitely check out the other forum. It moves quite a bit more quickly than this side does, and is all sorts of fun.
