Hello dear Forum-Members,

IŽam a digital Artist and some months ago, I designed, modelled and rendered a 3D-Image of Ender. I was really fascinated by the character of Ender and it inspired me for this Artwork.

There is much symbolism in the picture and most of the details are well chosen, but before I explain too much about this, I wanna let you take a look on the artwork and have your own impression of it.

And yes, I guess as many Readers there are, as many Imaginations exist about Enders appearance and the look of the scenes and technical equipment described in the book "Enders Game".
So what you see is just my imagination and maybe it differs completely from yours.

Anyway, I hope you like the picture:
(feel free to browse also my other artworks on this website)

And now, normaly speaking german, I hope, I didnŽt made too many faults in this posting [Big Grin]

Immanuel:

You're undeniably skillful; but it didn't quite match my imagination. [Smile] The cylinders on the suit seemed extraneous-- I always pictured the suits as more slick-looking.

Like this

Or this.

But anyway-- looks good!

Yes, your artworks are really closer to the imagination I have about the really technical look of Enders suit.
But my main focus was more psychological, because it was more a portrait of Ender than a visualization of "Ender with suit". So I tried to symbolize the Isolation of Ender by packing him into a hard, specular and repellent battle dress he canŽt get out easily. But I knew, Orson Scott Card described the suit completely different.

I hope your Design (the colored pictures) will be used for a film! wasnŽt there a picturization planned?

I'm always amazed when seeing people's imagination and design for things like this. Cool battle room design, too.

IG:

It's not my design-- I just happen to know the artist.

Jin Han has done a lot of work for Orson Scott Card. For example, he did the Goldbug comic that came out a couple months ago; and he's been featured regularly in Intergalactic Medicine Show.

I don't remember Ender having a light saber. [Wink]

Awesome artwork. I agree about the suit being too bulky though. I love the battleroom.

So what programs did you use to create your work of art?

Also I browsed some of your other art and reallly dig those spaceship designs.

You have a far more vivid imagination than I. Very nice representation of the battle room. I always just kinda pictured a box with gray carpeted walls with plain handles every few feet and big cube boxes for stars, lol. I suppose I concentrate more on the dialog and characters as I'm reading than I do with the environment.

Indeed, I think that focus carries into my real life too. Things that I'm not concentrating on pretty much don't exist. It makes for really potent selective hearing... I find it somewhat difficult to truly multi-task. I can't count how many times I've wished for a mind like Ender-as-Peter from CotM. I wonder if that's something you can teach yourself to do...

Is this the definition of A.D.D.?

That's actually exactly how I saw it. I see most of these designs and think, "No, that's too modern. This should look like a football training facility in 1968."

Excellent image, it is similar to my own but actually exceeds it in detail.

One could speculate that the black cylinders connecting sections of the battle suit along with the exoskeletons knee and elbow joints are the parts of the suit that freeze when hit by the laser light.

I pictured the suit as being softer, but given how you have designed it, I think the black intelligent joining strands are a necessity.

While I never pictured that many hand-holds as I read, it seem logical that they would have to be everywhere as you have shown them.

Overall, a very vivid and detailed image.

I am now convinced that Ender's Game should be a 3D animated movie, based on how good this looks.

I saw Beowulf and the character animation (in parts) was stunning. I think I would like an Ender's game done this way - I'd want the tech to advance a couple more years before it's produced, though. Beowulf still had some visual flaws and it was clear that more effort went into some scenes than others.
