I just read an article in Wired about inflatable buildings intended to be used in emergency situations (they're billed as having the best features of tents and portable buildings both, with the drawbacks of neither). Pretty cool idea, I have to say. Reminds of of the ongoing attempts to create inflatable space modules. Interesting trend.

Celia and I had a great discussion on inflatable modules for extraterrestrial habitats. What a great idea. A steel structure would have to be pressurized anyway.

Thanks for the links. [Cool]

Perhaps, but we really don't need to know so much about your private life, Noemon.

I think you, of all people, Icky, would appreciate a really fine inflatable structure. [Big Grin]

After the inflatable structure at the animal disease lab in Ames collapsed in our big wind last fall (rated for over 90mph, but aparently a nearby crane blew into it and the resulting tear allowed the wind to rip it to shreds) I would be very wary of going into space in one. [Angst]

In Grade Seven, I was in a gifted program where we had to invent something. Although it is to date my least favourite project ever, what I invented was the inflatable tent.

I knew there was a good idea in it.

This title made me think of all the yard decorations between my home in Hanover, PA and my work in Owings Mills, MD. From October to mid-November it's hundreds of inflatable ghosts, pumpkins and vampire Tiggers. From early Nov. through the end of January it's inflatable Santas, Christmas trees, caroling Mickey and Minnie, and snowmen. Then I thought it was over. I didn't think they'd sell inflatable Valentine, St Patrick's Day, and Easter stuff.

I was wrong.
