Apparently, Atari had a rare rush of niceness and decided to ship The Temple of Elemental Evil: A Classic Greyhawk Adventure a week early! It should hit stores this coming Wednesday. I suspect they wanted to go head-to-head against Homeworld 2 and Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy, so that their audience would at least give them a look before blowing their last hundred bucks on the other two titles.

So I'm really excited about this game and stuff. I was nervous initially because although I love the developer's history (they made Arcanum a couple years back, and the originators of the company were all Fallout vets), their games tended to stay well behind the technology curve. But apparently, they've made some kind of blood pact to overcome that limitation. I saw a video of gameplay that looked really smart and smooth — better than the Infinity Engine — and their next game, Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines is the first game to license the Source Engine from Valve — widely seen as THE cutting-edge technology for developing 3D games.

So, anyway. I'm excited. Woo! [waves Troika flag]

Excuse all the hyperlinks. I just talked to Leto on AIM, and I think something rubbed off ...

Yes, Greyhawk looks good. In fact the very reason I passed on Lionheart was to conserve for Greyhawk.

My only hope is that I can overcome my inherent fear of CRPGs to get into it. I have quite a few, but have finished very few (Planescape Torment being the best IMO I have finished), as I just have a real hard time getting into them. Once I am sucked in, forget it, I have to finish, but I hear folks talking about doing all these insane things and spells/artifacts etc. and I just get intimidated.
