Total number of hurricanes survived by Mrs.M: 2

Isabel hit us pretty hard, but nowhere near as hard as Andrew hit Florida. Of course, this one was followed by a fairly severe rainstorm, which knocked our power right back out. They got the power back on again, but then we got a tornado. That’s when I started keeping an eye out for locusts. We have had our power back for a day and a half now and I am enjoying all the trappings of civilization, like hot showers, hot coffee, my straight iron, and the Internet

We discovered a few things while the lights were out.
  • the coolest, least humid place in our house is on the living room floor next to the fireplace
  • taking cold showers for 6 days is bad for your soul
  • the internet is like crack to Dr.M. and the withdrawal is not pretty
  • throwing out hundreds of dollars worth of food is somehow liberating
  • replacing hundreds of dollars worth of food is demoralizing
Oh well, at least it’s all over in time for me to not be ready for the holidays.
So, what’d I miss?

T_Smith hit 6000, Narnia hit 1008.

The Dobie was declared dead, but it's getting better!

Please never show me this again!

Other stuff happened. But I'll let someone else have a turn. [Wink]

I swear that when I first read your thread title, I thought it said "Thunderstorms and Tomatoes". And I thought, "That could get messy."

[Laugh] self.

Congrats for surviving! I was home in Baton Rouge when Andrew hit us. Worst one I've ever been through. My parents power was out for 7 days and we live right by LSU campus. My mom throwing out all that expensive unfrozen seafood made me cry since up here in North Alabama I don't get any seafood (or am too picky to eat the stuff here).

Hurricanes are something else, but tornados scare me much worse. Were you directly hit by one? I hope not, although having one anywhere nearby is well .... [Angst]

Good luck in getting things back to normal!
