My folks live just outside of town and have been regaling me with tales of the Mama Fox and her kits that live next door to them. I've been wanting to get out there to take some pics but have been quite busy. I just called to ask if they were out and about (the kits) and Mom said the absentee owners of the house across the road (where the kits live) showed up yesterday and destroyed the den. Wouldn't you know, the first time I have free, some yahoo screws everthing up.

foxes usually have an alternate den nearby. You migth still get a chance if you can locate their 2nd home.

Well, I got a call from my mom that the kits were out playing this evening so I grabbed my gear and headed out. When I got there Mom said that they had scooted around to the back of the house. I put the telephoto lens on the camera and attached it to the tripod and walked into a plowed field that borders the house where the kits were playing. I stayed about 50 to 75 yards away from the house and when I could see the rear of the house I got a glimpse of the foxes playing. They stopped and stared at me as I tried to set up the tripod. One of them scampered back around to the front while the other watched me for a few seconds and then decided to join its sibling but had a rough time choosing which direction to head. This was amusing.
I trekked back to the front of the house and managed to get one shot. The light was fading and it was a bit long distance so its a bit blurry, but at least I got one.

NICE!!! That kit is adorable. I bet you can tweak the leves in photoshop to make the photo pop instead of the flat 'cause of the fading light. *kicks uncooperative sun*

Mack, I'll play around with it and see what I can do. I use The Gimp but I'm not real adept at it right now. If I have any success improving the pic I'll post anew.

I think you should changed the title of this thread, now that the photo opp is no longer missed.
