Do you realize how many medical bills I'll be able to pay off . . . so exciting!
A promotion + raise, different medical plan that costs less, no private school fees . . . (Nathan is going to public school starting January)- heck, I might even be able to get a less-used car by this summer and think about saving towards a home of my own . . .
Sighs in contentment and pleasure!

Shan, you absolutely deserve this raise. I don't know anything about your work habits, but I know a little bit about your mothering habits (from posts here on the 'rack, I'm not stalking you ), and if you are as good a worker as you are a mother, you should be running that place by now!
Hearty congratulations! But no hugs, am still sick! hehe.

I don't have AIM - it's too complicated. Or fast. Or something. Anyway, I don't have it. Sorry.
Why aren't you tucked up in bed with some hot herbal tea resting, young lady? Back to bed with you, right now, no arguments!

Pssht. I don't believe your *straight face* mack, you are an excellent..um..dissembler. (I don't want to say 'liar' because that's not nice *grin*) I am starting to figure out your tricks.
Shan, I thought you were talking about *me* being sick, and that I should be having tea and resting. You see, the world revolves around *me*, doesn't it? Oh. It doesn't, huh? Alright then. *slinks away, shamefacedly*
But mack WAS talking about me in the AIM reference. At least, I am pretty sure she was.

Awwww Shanmom, it's almost time for the ball to drop. *whiiiiiine*
Oh, that's right, I'm a grown-up. I can stay up as late as I want!
mack, you ain't foolin' nobody. *tickles*
Oh, and Shan, my mom used wooden spoons, too. I didn't own a wooden spoon until after I was married. Heh. Moms are scaaaaaaaary! What was the scariest part about my Mom using a wooden spoon? She'd cry even *before* she used it on my rear. *siiiigh* I hated making Mom cry. Still do. Happily, I don't make her cry very often anymore. *grin*

Hmmm. Sorry. That would be a legit business. Don't know about those.
However, I think you should figure out what the cost to produce a picture is (total cost: supplies, materials, travel, fees, per diem, time spent and what you feel you ought to be paid an hour. Don't forget taxes. And profit margin.)
$200.00 for a framed big picture.
Look at it this way, mack - for Nathan's school picture package (1 5x7, 3 3x5's, 4 wallets and 8 minis) I paid almost $30.00 bucks. Multiply that by 200 kids in one set location, no matting and framing.
Hmmm. I think you could and should charge. Start high and offer "specials" so the buyer feels like they got a good deal.

Don't only consider cost. Always consider demand as well.
If you made something unique, that everyone in the world wanted desperately, you wouldn't charge $25 even if you made it in a few minutes. You'd charge thousands, or millions.

mack - how many other people are selling fine photographic art? That supply -
We know you (and lotsa other people know you, too) therefore the superb work you do has an extra significance for us. I would speculate that other photographers have similar situations.
Economics has both demand and supply to it (and lots of other stuff . . . sigh)
