I recently started having these itchy rashes, and then the bottom of my feet started swelling up to where I couldn't walk, and my knees were so tender it was excrutiating just to bend my legs. I just got back from my doctor and he said that it sounds like a really bad viral infection of some sort. This didn't make much sense. I know there are some medically trained people here on Hatrack and I figured I could get a second opinion. I'm still not much better. I just a full blood panel done today.

Knees weren't involved, but the last time the bottoms of my feet started itching like crazy was right after I moved into a new apartment. The person who cleaned it was kind enough to use three cans (yes, three) of CarpetFresh on a very tiny 1 bedroom. It took us weeks to figure it out, mostly because the rash had begun to spread all the way up to my arms.
Hopefully your blood tests will shed some light on the problem. I feel for you.

Excuse me. Although you do not have it, there is a well-established diagnosis of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. Assuming you were younger, I was thinking more of Kawasaki's disease, but you are way too old for that.
Let me think a bit tonight. Theca may well have more to offer, though.
(I think you'll be fine, as your symptoms don't trigger major warning bells. Still, it's worth puzzling through some possibilities.)

Nick, did the doctor suggest any relief measures? CT, is this something that Benadryl might be good for?

Well I'm definitely in no shape to drive, I'll say that much. If I need to go out, I'll be walking...
Oh well, the exercise is good for me. Another wierd thing. I haven't changed my eating habits or my excercising schedule, and yet I weigh 5 pounds less than 20 days ago.
