I actually really enjoyed Troy. Not having read the Iliad, I came to the film with only the standard smattering of knowledge. I was absorbed and entertained throughout.
But the bloody theme song at the end was even worse than that of "Enterprise". I couldn't wait to get out of the theatre in case I gagged horrendeously on my ears trying to escape down my throat.
What were they thinking!??!

They do that to clear the theater so the next group can get in.
Now as for GREAT themes, I think "Into the West" by Annie Lennox at the End of LOTR: ROTK is among the worlds great songs.

Oh, good lord. I ALWAYS stay in the theatre until the final credit rolls and the screen goes black. I consider it respectful of the artists who worked on the film, and I find that it provides a terrific and relaxiing buffer between the movie's world and the real world. Also, it's really fun to be the only one left in the theatre, and usually the music at the end has some significance to the movie.
For Troy, i gave it about thirty seconds, and I was gone.

I dislike the Enterprise theme. A Star Trek theme should be instrumental for some reason. And also magestic.

I actually kinda like the Enterprise theme song, but not enough to listen to it if I've had to tape an episode. Of course, I hardly ever watch the credits on any show I tape...

I thought the Enterprise theme was weird season one, I liked it season two, and I hated the "remix" season three.
The original is a Rod Stewart song, from the movie Patch Adams, so I've been told. I found it, and I kinda like it. "Faith of the Heart" is its name, for anyone who actually likes it.
I didn't like any of the music from Troy let alone the song at the end. It wasn't thematic or majestic enough for that story. Where was the "Trojan theme"? "Achilles' theme"? "Agamemnon's Evil march"? "Paris' Whiny Brat Ditty"? Not there. But they should be. That's where Gladiator excelled and that's where Lord of the Rings blew every other movie out of the water (excepting perhaps The Magnificent Seven).
And as for credits, I always stay until they stop flashing and start rolling unless I had very strong opinions on the movie (positive [stay] or negative [leave]) or the people with whom I saw it want to leave.

I heard that the "Troy" music was done at the last minute. James Horner did the flick and while I usually like him, this tepid retread of other better movies was at best generic and at worst derivative. Someone I saw the theatre told me (when I commented how bad the music was beginning to end) that they had an entire soundtrack done and in the books but at the last minute (like, almot literally last minute) they scrapped it for the generic Horner tripe. Too bad. Maybe it could have elevated the movie to a new level. For me, the movie lacked passion and drama. I never felt any urgency at any point in the film. I liked the drum bit with one particular fight sequence but otherwise it lacked something.

The original score for Troy was done by one Gabriel Yared. I'm not a big fan, but I enjoyed what I heard in the first preview released -- remember the drums? That was him.
This latest bit was done -- composed and conducted -- in two weeks by Horner, after Yared's score tested badly with screen tests. Utter crap. But then, Horner's never had anything to stand on but Braveheart -- while that soundtrack's extraordinary, everything else he's done is drawn directly from it. Just listen to Braveheart and Titanic back-to-back sometime and you'll understand what I mean.
Ugh. I'll consider buying the DVD for Troy if they offer an alternate version integrated with Yared's soundtrack. If not, then no.
