My singing grandminion Apostle Radio (prolixshore) and his friend Trevor came to visit this weekend to go to the South Carolina / Alabama football game in Tuscaloosa, and we had a blast!

We played cds for each other (AR has very good taste in music, and introduced me to some cool stuff I'd never heard of) and AR and I played guitar and sang. AR debuted two new songs he wrote, (which was what I had told him was the charge for room and board for 2 nights, that he had to sing for his supper, or in this case, breakfast). He's really got an awesome voice, no wonder people pay him money to sing! Both songs were excellent, too. Far above and beyond compensation for the meager lodgings. [Smile] He writes really good songs! He played me on CD a song he had written for another band, as well, that they'd recorded. It was awesome. I'm so impressed with his songwriting skillz. All my grandminions are extremely smart, talented, exceptional people, I've found.

We played trivia, too, at which AR is king. Trevor was mopping up all the sports questions. Trevor is a non-nerdy type person, even, and got slightly wide eyed at hearing about some of our weirdo hatrack stuff (well, mostly mine, actually ... AR is a cross-over person and can totally pass for a normal guy if people don't know any better). But he was a good sport and didn't freak out and run away or anything. <laughs> Trevor likes hip hop so I broke out my one hip hop cd, Run DMC's Raising Hell, which he seemed to enjoy. It's a classic!

On Saturday morning we went to play ping pong but the Vestavia rec center where we went had a totally pathetic table, paddles, and ball, to the point that it was not even ping pong but really some completely different game, something like what it must be to play tennis on grass, I imagine. It was funny, though, and we had a fun time laughing at the equipment, smacking the ball around, and watching it make weird thudding bounces due to the interesting geometry of the table. More like 3-D putt putt with paddles instead of ping pong, I'd say. It was fun.

They took me out to lunch on Saturday, after our ping pong adventures, to a Mexican restaurant where Trevor got a cheeseburger. (Normal people eat cheeseburgers, I guess.) [Smile] And I got caught up with what's going on in football. They told me that my college Auburn (War Eagle!) is having a good season this year, w00t, and various other important things like who is coaching for us now. After lunch they left for the game, and I took a nap. They came back late Saturday night triumphant because the Gamecocks stomped Alabama, yay! Also it turned out Auburn beat Tennessee and Florida beat Arkansas yesterday so all those were Very Good Things. [Smile] A red letter day in SEC football, indeed!

This morning I made breakfast again. Everyone who comes to visit gets my standard Tatianaâ„¢ Breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon, and biscuits from scratch. I'm getting in better practice with the biscuits, but really I need guests much more often to keep my skillz finely honed. It seemed good though and nobody dropped dead from eating it. Saudade and Andrei did the pioneering work in my early biscuit experiments, actually, so her minions now can benefit from that. [Smile]

Anyway, my grandminions and acolytes are all outstanding people and they are welcome at any time. I really enjoyed AR's and Trevor's visit and hope all of you will come see me whenever you're in the area. Here's hoping they have a safe trip back to South Carolina and that the Gamecocks beat Clemson and go to a bowl game! w00t! [Smile]

Yes indeed. An awesome time was had by all.

Thank you for your compliments AK, we think the world of you as well.

Anyone who goes to ak's house will never want for company or good hosting, she is just awesome.

The weekend was a ton of fun, even trevor enjoyed himself despite our nerdiness. AK is a great cook and even better company, plus she has just about every book I want to read but don't have. I am extremely jealous of her library.

Yes that's right, Carolina won the game, so those of you who chose alabama in the hatrack college pick 'em league should have listened to me! Also, now you know that the reason I do well is because I listen to the advice of my resident sports expert, Trevor.

Don't let ak fool you though, she whooped us at trivia. We will blame it on the fact that she is older than us, but more likely it is because she is a genius.

Anyhow, it was fun, and thanks again ak, we appreciated it.

Sure thing! There are some cool ones with the ping pong ball zooming through the air looking all zoom-y. <laughs>

Will send them all to your email in your profile.
