Hey, I've got a question. I've posted many threads in my 14 months or so on the 'rack. Some of them have good recommendations for books or music or movies, or just interesting debates. I was wondering what the best way is of saving these so they don't get deleted.

I've tried cutting and pasting to word files, but it ends up being kind of hard to read. I've also tried saving the html files, but it usually requires a folder full of files for each thread, which can get hard to deal with in a hurry. Is there a better way, or is that about it?

Thanks for the help.

At the bottom of the screen you'll see a place where it says "printer friendly version of this topic". Click on that, and then just copy and paste the text of the thread into a Word document. It's relatively easy to read that way.

Someone else suggested this:

Right-click on the page, and go to "view source." Save that html and you can look at the whole page in all its Hatrack coloration glory any time you like.

If the server is down, Annie's way will be missing all the icons and graphic placeholders, but that's the basic idea. If you want something more thorough, use GNU wget or one of the many web archivers based around it.

I don't have time to take on another large-scale project right now. I think it's best if I just cut my losses.
