Do you use this option? I can't hear most of what is on the TV, so I use it.

I would just like to comment on songs.

Now, some shows have lyric CC'ed into the show, but the song never plays. Or there is a completely different song playing.

And some shows use the song, but don't CC it.

I don't get it. And it annoys me.

Why do they do this? I mean, if they can't get permission to use the song, why leave in the CC? And if they are paying for the use of the song, why aren't they Close Captioning it?

I just wish that you could hit the button for Spanish close captioning and have the Spanish-language channels translated to English.

I mean, I just don't get most of Univision's programming, perhaps I'm missing out on something because of the language barrier.

I only use it on some sections of movies, when I can't understand the dialogue. I feel like a geek, but sometimes it's better to use the CC option as opposed to turning up the volume insanely high. I live in an apartment complex, by the way, so that certainly factors into this.

my TV goes to CC mode if you mute it, though I rarely use it. There have been times when I have been watching a movie, and I go back and put on CC if I can't make out what was said...but not that often.

I'm often surprised by how much you miss by not using CC. I think they use original scripts and the wording is sometimes changed, but more often, words or phrases are just not said. It's interesting.

I often use CCs when I can't make out dialects or just when the speech is too quiet.

There is one scene that immediately comes to mind, actually, from the movie Meet Joe Black, where the music is much louder than the dialouge and it's very difficult to hear. That is an occasion where I use CCs.

Otherwise, I keep them off. It's a similar problem that I have watching foreign films, but I often get distracted by the written dialouge and I don't pay attention to the action on the screen.
