I heard it on NPR, a quick Google found the words.

quote:

"Anthrax and SAMs" by Dr. Jay

You do have anthrax and SAMs.
I do not have them, says Saddam.
I do not have anthrax and SAMs.
I would not have them here or there.
I would not have them anywhere.
I do not have anthrax and SAMs.
I do not have them, says Saddam.

Have you hid them in your halls?
Have you hid them in some mall?

I do not have them in my halls.
I do not have them in some mall.
I do not have them here or there.
I do not have them anywhere.

Have you kept them in your mosques?
Have you kept them ‘neath some rocks?

Not in our mosques. Not ‘neath some rocks.
Not in my halls. Not in some mall.
I would not keep them here or there.
I would not keep them anywhere.

Would you store them in a truck?

Eat me! Eat me! You dumb schmuck!
I have not stored them in a truck.

You do have them. They’ll be found.
You may have them underground!

I would not hide them underground.
Not in a truck! They’re not around.
I do not have anthrax and SAMs.
I do not have them, says Saddam.

A train! A train! A train! A train!
Might you hide them on a train?
Not on a train! Not underground
Not in a truck! Call off your hounds!
I do not store anthrax and SAMs.
I do not have them, says Saddam.

Say! In a school? Perhaps your schools!
Would you, could you, in your schools?

There are none here, you Yankee fool.

Would you stash them on a plane?

I have not stashed them on a plane.
Not in my schools. Not on a train.
I would not keep them here or there.
I would not keep them anywhere.

Have you stowed them in the sand?

I have not stowed them in the sand!

You do not have them. So you say.
Go on! Hide them! Then we’ll play.
Rest assured we’ll have our way.

George! If you will let me be,
I will play nice. You will see.
I do not store anthrax and SAMs.
I do not have them, says Saddam.

We will destroy them on dry land.
And we’ll destroy them in the sand.
And we’ll destroy them on your planes.
And in your schools. And on your trains.
And in your trucks. And underground.
So we’ll destroy them in your mosques.
And we’ll destroy them ‘neath your rocks.
And we’ll destroy them in your halls.
And we’ll destroy them in your malls.
And we’ll destroy them here and there.
Hey! We’ll destroy them everywhere.

I do not have anthrax and SAMs.
I do not have them, says Saddam.

I think you left out the part where Saddam claimed he was a democratically elected leader.

Edit to add: By the way, we did find SAMs that violated the ceasefire agreement.

I thought the missiles in question, nfl, were surface-to-surface, not SAMs. I do remember that they were in violation of the ceasefire agreement with 5-10 missiles, though.

he's quoting another person's work nfl. it's not his poem. he has not "left out" anything.

and hell, i think it's mighty clever. of course i was hoping i'd come into here and find stuff about late 80s early 90s metal, but hey, i'll take what i can get.

Yes, I did read the top where he said he heard it on NPR and found it on Google. However, if someone posts an editorial about how we should have trusted Saddam, of course the editorial is going to get attacked.

That's right, technically they were surface to surface, so I was wrong. Despite that though, my point remains valid that the rhyme is foolish to claim we should have trusted Saddam.

aha, but you did not necessarily attack the author of the editorial, or the editorial itself, but rather seemed to imply that the person who posted was negligent...

I was mocking the peice, implying that WheatPuppet left out the verses where Saddam claimed he was a democratically elected leader. I would also dare say that those who post editorials are largely responsible for their content except where they say that they either don't agree or are just posting for discussion's sake. Otherwise it can generally be assumed that that the poster agrees with the content.

I thought it could be assumed--upon reading--that I posted it for humor value. [Wink] It's best when read aloud with two voices.

It was also outside the scope of the poem/story/thing to comment on how democratic pre-invasion Iraq was. It was just trying to be funny, which it succeeds at since that's exactly what Saddam was saying before we invaded. [Smile]

while he may agree, that does not mean he assumes responsibility of the author's choice not to mention how saddam came to and remained in power, which had nothing to do with the subject of the poem anyways.

The poem implies that we should have believed what Saddam told us, after all we haven't found any WMD. I demonstrated why its foolish to take Saddam Hussein at his word.
