Hundreds of years of Western Civilization's earliest history has now been contaminated and quite possibly distroyed! And for what? To protect it? How stupid can these people actually be? You don't flatten and pour gravel over an ancient archaelogical site to protect it!

Technically it's the Near East, but there's neither here nor there.
I'm just as apalled, and incredibly surprised that after all the heat we took for the museum being looted we would still be stupid enough to do this. We should have protected it yes, like the other great cities like Ur in ancient Sumer.
But that's America for you.
