Yes, drinking tons of water. I have a one-liter bottle, and I usually (I think it's funny to say "usually" when I've been at this for three whole days) drink four to five of them in a 1.5-2 hour timeframe (plus lots more during the day). I do drink coffee, though, so there's that whole caffeine thing, but I never really bought into that.
I recognize low-water muscle pain, and this ain't it. This is why-in-the-world-did-you-think-starting-shoulder-presses-with-three-sets-of-fifteen-reps-at-120-pounds-was-a-good-idea-when-you-haven't-exercised-in-years-you-should-have-worked-up -to-it-instead-you-schmuck-who-were-you-trying-to-impress-anyway pain.

Could also be that your kidneys haven't been "working" for a while and are now purging themselves.
My pee was brown after I donated one of my kidneys and it was because of the extra workload on the remaining side.

My psychologist told me I have OCD(Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), ADD(Attention Deficiet Disorder), and ADHD(Attention Deficiet Hyperactivity Disorder) all at the same time this morning. Aren't I special?? Oh and a severre case of paranoia....

Papa, now you have me worried about rhabdomyolysis. It is possible to overexercise enough that the protein from muscle breakdown can damage your kidneys. Not common, but possible -- more likely in marathoners, although I could make a case for your risk, too.
There is no way to assess this online. Why not give your primary care physician's office a call? If they are concerned, a simple dipstick of your urine can rule out a whole bunch.
I'm really concerned about the discolored urine in the face of muscle pain and adquate hydration. Please, please, pretty please check this out?

Huh. Do you take medication to stop the headaches once they have started, or to prevent them from happening? With your frequency, I would hope the latter. If your preventive medicine isn't working, there are probably others you can try.
And I doubt the computer screen is helping, sugar. Do you think a dark room and some sleep will help?

I take the medicine in the morning, at noon, and before I go to bed.....and the computer doesn't bug me that much.....but being in a band....and reading.....and writing......and watching tv does.....oh and playing football but that is a given.......and sleeping just makes it worse for some reason....

Have you tried other medications? Are you working with a physician to figure it out, or are you past that, or are you winging it?

speaking of weird medical things - I've broken out! I have grey hair and zits, and that is just not cool.
I wonder why all of a sudden? No diet changes, no medication changes. The only real change is school - is it true that stress can cause you to break out or is that just a myth?

I think acne has definitely been shown to be correlated with stress.
Sucks, eh? I'm finding that Clinique brand foaming facial wash and toner (#2) are worth the investment, for me. never thought I'd say that, as I'm a stick-to-the-basics, no-frills kinda gal, but there it is.

CT, I'll call the doc if it's still an issue in the morning. Maybe I didn't drink as much yesterday as I thought. As far as I know, it only started this morning, so I'll drink offensive amounts of water for the rest of today and tonight. I was up a lot of the night anyway, because I couldn't find a comfortable position for sleep, and if that's still the case, getting up to pee won't be much of a problem. I really worked too hard, and I think that's all it was. (And I got your e-mail, thank you.)
On an unrelated note, I received in the mail today my waiver for jury duty. I would love to serve as a juror -- I've done it before and I think it's important that it is done by people as impartial and discerning as me. However, while I could perhaps afford to skip work for a while to serve, we can't currently afford not to have me watching the kids for any length of time. I already checked at the gym, and they won't let me drop off the kids for the whole day.
Another little peeve there -- they accept kids from 3 months to 12 years, but they won't change diapers? So either you have the child potty-trained by 3 months (though they also say they won't escort the child to the bathroom either?), or you hope they don't go for a couple hours, or you interrupt your workout schedule to change the diaper yourself. Or, of course, you let the child sit in a dirty diaper until you're done.
Today Superstation was fairly inconsolable, and I got pulled off the exercise bike to sit with him for about 15 minutes until he was calm. His diaper was dry, and there hadn't been a problem when I put it on, but I pasted some Desitin around his "region" and after a minute he was fine. He's been having some really bad diaper-rash lately, and we can't figure out why. Maybe something he didn't originally present as being allergic to has hit a critical mass or something? It's just unusual, because most reactions are instant and around the mouth. He's also (possibly) teething -- can that cause a diaper rash, even though he doesn't have his head up his butt?
So are these the kinds of random musings that people often put in a livejournal? I've never been much for hournaling, except when it was required for a class (that happened twice).
And the skin on the knuckle of my left pinky is rather dry.
Uh, this is rather not nice of me, but could you consider refraining from using ibuprofen or aspirin overnight, too? Tylenol (acetaminophen) should be fine, as it's processed by the liver and not so hard on the kidneys.

Re: the diaper rash. If you are having a hard time clearing it, it might be superinfected with Candida (yeast). He might need some nystatin or other antifungal to clear it.
Candida is notable for satellite lesions, little spots that extend out past the leading edge of the redness. Candida also tends to be brightest red/pink deep in the creases.
Any powdery/cheesy whiteness in his mouth? If he's breastfeeding, any nipple tenderness or redness?

I was actually planning on taking naproxen -- that usually works better for me on sore muscles. But if you say acetaminophen, then acetaminophen it is.
I took two naproxen last night before bed -- could that have caused or contributed to my pee issue?
posted
That sounds like his diaper, all right. Is nystatin OTC, or do we need to see his pediatrician? I don't recall seeing anything in his mouth, though. He recently shifted from soy formula to soy milk -- can this contribute?
CT, you rock, by the way. Don't know if I said it recently enough.

I doubt naproxen would by itself have caused a kidney problem, not at that low dose and in an otherwise healthy person. But if you do have stress on your kidneys from muscle tissue breakdown, it would likely exacerbate it.
Sorry, sorry, sorry. I know acetaminophen sucks for pain for some people. I'm one of them -- might as well drink a sip of water. And you are a big boy, and you can make your own decisions. I'd just worry less.

Sure, go ahead and try nystatin, if you have some for him already. You can also get it over the counter. We are seeing more and more cases of resistance in our community, though, so if it doesn't work, I'd consider taking him in. The provider can paint his butt with Gentian violet, and that usually works with just one application. Stains clothes, however.
Sometimes little guys get yeast in the mouth, too, and that requires oral nystatin (prescription only, I believe) or Gentian violet there. SOunds like it's just the diaper area, though.
Good luck! Let me know how it works out, if you think about it.

So it's been over a month, and my pee is still yellow. And I'm now lifting slightly more weight than I was those first couple days when I temporarily disabled myself. I think I might actually be healthier than I was -- feels like I am, anyway. And I've lost about 12 pounds, even though I haven't changed my diet at all. I must admit that I've been considering a crash diet between now and BobnDanaCon, but I think I'm just gonna pass on that, and still be a bit pudgy.
I haven't tried to fit into one of my suits yet, though. Hmmm....
I'm doing a chapter from Lake Wobegon Days as a humrous interpretation at the Speech Meet on Saturday. Wish me luck.

My brother ran into him the other day as he was working.
The conversation went like:
My brother: "Don, how are you."
Don: "Well, I was in the hospital last week."
Brother: "Oh? What happened?"
Don: "I hurt myself. Had some plumbing problems."
Brother: "Are you OK now?"
Don: "Yeah, but THEY TOOK A NEEDLE AND STUCK IT UP MY @#$@#$@"
Every person within three aisles heard this last remark. Everyone of them groaned and grabbed their crotches as if they were protecting themselves from a similar fate.

I was gonna look for this thread. A gas station in my town is called Sav a Step. Not save, sav. Irks me. Last weekend my husband and I were on the south side of Louisville when I noticed a gas station called Sav a Stop. Clearly it's spreading.
