As if movies, video cassettes, dvds, books, comic books, tv shows, and a huge fan base wasn't enough, George Lucas has decided to adapt the Star Wars movies for 3-D and release them, one per year, starting in 2007. I wonder when this guy will realize he needs to stop. I for one think that it is a waste of time and energy. I won't go see it. I'm sure all of the hard core Star Wars fans will see them all twelve times each, but I think it is stupid. I just want to walk up to George Lucas and say," Stop it! We don't need anymore Star Wars!" [No No]

Yeah, I’d rather he make Episodes VII, VIII, and IX
How many times can you possibly remake IV, V, VI.

I heard him say he’s to old to do that. Bahhh…. With today’s technology we can keep him alive until he finishes them. Heck, we’ll have to keep OSC going so he can finish all his stories!

Maybe by then we can download their brains and the creative AI will make all the stories automatically.

Lucas's producer was complaining," I don't think George will stop tweaking these things until hes dead." Or something very much like that. I don't have the quote next to me, but that is basically what he was saying, with the same mood.

He'll never do it. His odyssey is over. I don't think we've had enough Star Wars, hell, I'll never have enough Star Wars. I'm one of the rabid "see it twelve times" fans.

The 3-D thing is fine with me, if you don't want to see it, don't, but don't complain about it. I think X-Files was stupid and went on for way too long, but there are those who are still sad that it's over, culminating in a wretchedly horrible movie. But hey, if they want it, let them have it.

I can see Lucas bringing in a hand picked director to continue the series, but it won't be an episode, not like VII, VIII and IX. The episodes are over, and they will have to contend with the EU now, all of which was approved by Lucas, and he'll have to follow it, or piss off his fan base.

He has said in the past that he believes it might be turned into a television series (which I think is a horrible idea), or that someone will direct the next set of movies.

My money is on a Peter Jackson like director doing The Thrawn Trilogy. Zahn is easily the best of the EU authors (perhaps tied with Michael Stackpole in my opinion), and I think would be a good choice to write the scripts. It has the best chance or renergizing the fan base. The space battles will be on a scale never before seen in any sci fi film, and with engaging charaters like Mara Jade, Talon Karrde, and Thrawn himself (not to mention the Noghri), this can be a new trilogy for a new generation.

I still think it is a horrible idea. It is a waste of money. And, by the time he has finished, the techonology he used to make them will, most likely, entirely obsolete. Star Wars was great, but I think its time to let it become a classic rather than a rabid animal still rearing its head.
