A. I bought it for myself
B. Reason #1
C. I only wear the one
3--

4. No, it does not annoy me
5. Yes, the news
6. What? o_O

I bought the livestrong thing at Nike long before it was "cool" to have one. Some guys I know got a hold of a bunch of them and started selling them for $3 when they got really popular and really scarce. It made me so bad because THEY were making the profit off of it. It wasn't going to help anyone but themselves. [Mad]

A. Other: I've never heard of them. Is this an American thing? (I'm Canadian)

B. Again, I've never noticed people wearing them, so I suppose I'm indifferent. To my knowledge they don't exist up here.

2. Yes

3. B, on the news.

A. 5. At first, I felt like I was being left out because I didn't know what they (the LiveStrong ones) were, but then other organizations started making their own for much shallower reasons, and I didn't want to get lumped into the whole group.
B1. No
B2. I think the majority of people wear them because they believe in/support the cause, and I don't have a problem with that.

1) No
I don't wear one because I've never seen them sold anywhere, and probably wouldn't buy one if I did; I don't have money to just throw around. I support causes I believe in, but they're, like, feeding the starving type causes.

It doesn't annoy me when others wear them unless I don't like the person to begin with; then I tend to judge them for trying to be "trendy". I have an issue with judgement.

2) Yes. [Frown]
C, on Human Rights Watch.

A. 5. Other, explain: Because it exploded from a symbol for a legitimate cause into a fashion statement practically overnight.
B. Mixed - yes because of all the ripoffs of legitimate causes and no because I'm not personally being hurt or taken advantage of by other people's need to be "in". My daughter wanted one, though, when she saw a rack of them at the grocery store and I refused.

1. They are stupid and pointless
2. They are too popular. I don’t like wearing something that everybody else does.
4. I donated the money, why do I have to wear the bracelet?
5. Other, explain: I feel like the braceletes are used as a badge to proclaim, "LOOK! I'm a good person! I donated to a cause!" Plus, I don't want to be a sheep and it bothers me to have things around my wrists.

B. When you see people walking around wearing the bracelets:
1. Does it annoy you? Yes and No
2. Why or why not?
Now a days, some people have like 15, especially on my campus. Even the sororities and frat's have started selling them to support their philanthopies. Many people buy them because they are fun to play with any look cold, those people annoy me. If you feel you need to wear the bracelet to show you donated, that is fine, but at least have a good reason.

2. Do you know about the situation in Darfur, Sudan?

C. It sounds familiar, but I don’t remember

1. Do you wear a silicone bracelet (i.e- LiveStrong)?
Yes

A. How did you get it? (Did you buy it for yourself, somebody give it to you, etc…)
Some as gifts, bought myself one.

B. Do you wear it because:
1. You really care about its meaning and feel it creates awareness

C. How many of them do you wear?
[Blushing] I own 4, but don’t wear them all at once (Livestrong, Breast Cancer, leather Tsunami Relief, Darfur)

2. Do you know about the situation in Darfur, Sudan?
Yes

3. If you answered yes to the question above, how did you come to hear about it?
B. The news

I don’t wear them all at once. I usually only wear my Give Hope Tsunami relief one, but sometimes I change them. The silicone irritates my wrists if I wear it for too long.

And something that really irritates me is the people who wear the fake ones because they come in cool colours. None of the money is going to the cause, and those are the people who do it b/c they’re cool. [Mad]

I was in my friend's apartment and I saw a bunch on the table in the little wrapers. I considered stealing one but was too lazy to do so. Otherwise, I never see them on sale, and if I'm too lazy to steal one, then...

And, no, I don't know about the situation.

EDIT: A possibly tasteless remark would be "No. I hear they cause cancer."

You get that response and you pretty much KNOW the guy's crazy.

a. 5 - Never heard of it.
b. No. Never seen one.
2. D. Depends on which particular situation you're talking about. Since you didn't specify one, and I'm not psychic, I don't know what, specifically, you are referring to.
3. Can't answer until you provide more information. Please be specific about what "situation" specifically you are referring to.

As a side note, I would never wear one. I'm allergic to silicone, including medical grade silicone. (Good thing I never got those breast implants.)

Hey, quid, she might be interested, for the purposes of the survey, in knowing you live in Sri Lanka, though she didn't mention locale as a question.

And just out of curiosity, how many situations in Darfur have you heard about that have been making the news regularly recently?

But, you see, what I know is not as relevant as what Arya knows since she's the one asking the questions. She could be thinking about female circumcision, civil war, beheadings, the divorce rate, the AIDS crisis, or any number of other situations. Since she doesn't specify (she? he?) and I don't know her, I have no idea what she does or does not know, nor do I know what she is referring to. For all I know, she may be confusing Durfur with Chechnya or the North Pole. I have no way of knowing, and that's the point.

The 'situation' I am referring to is that of genocide. I apologize for not being more specific, though I assumed there was no need to be.

I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to fill out the questionnaire. It really helped me a lot. =)

A. Other, I have no idea what they are really for, I'm not sure I would spend money on it if I did as I prefer to give directly rather than have it filtered through a certain profit percentage, particularly if I am buying something I would usually buy, and I don't like wearing most jewelry type things, be it bracelets, watches, necklaces, rings, etc.

B. Yes, it annoys me a little because I'm fairly certain they're just wearing it to look cool. This is especially true if they are wearing more than 4 at once.

2.Yes
