This past Thursday afternoon, the Master Chief that I work for decided to wake me up personally. Now, mind you, I thought I was in trouble when he did this. However, he has this big smile on his face. His message: I made Rank, First Class Petty Officer to be exact (E-6).
Of course he then asked if I was upset that he woke me up.....no, yes, no, YES! I had been up since 2 that morning and had only gotten an hour of sleep when he woke me. Of course after this news I couldn't fall asleep again (I was supposed to wake up 2 hours later). Oh well, I am indeed quite happy about this.
I am especially happy that I made it without the Early Promote I got on my last Evaluation (the EP gives me quite a few more points, but it would've only affected the next cycle in the fall). Now that I am back in port for the next couple of days I definitely plan on celebrating. That is also as soon as I get off duty.
It feels really wierd walking around the ship and passing people I work with. The rest of Thursday and then Friday were full of "congratulations" and "It's about $%#$!@& time", and hand shakes. I was one of two people in my division to make Rank of any kind. None of the guys made 3rd or 2nd Class Petty Officer. That was the upsetting part. Oh well, those two are being taken care of.
I already e-mailed a few people about this, but I decided I had to let everyone else know.
Edit to add: I have been out to sea for a while....when did they change the look of this place? I like it.

Tonight I just got done sewing by hand the new patch that Master Chief gave me. It's not the best looking, but it works.

Space Opera, it means more responsibility (sp?), and more pay. The most important part is the more pay.
