Lately, it seems as though some of us have been pointing out what we dislike about others on this forum. And those threads seem to be tremendously popular.
I'd like to start a very popular thread dedicated to the praise of our fellow Hatrackers and Hatrackesses. You don't have to love everything about that person, but try to find at least one nice thing to say.
I'll start:
steven, I like the way that you hold to your convictions, even when the world is against you. You've got guts.

I like all the friendly and welcoming people in this community (which is just about everyone).
I know saying "I like everyone" probably isn't what you wanted, but I think it fits with the point of this thread, doesn't it?

I had been wondering the same thing for about a week.
Edit: And everyone here is great, this is a community that you can join with ease, and use it as a place to just talk and get to know each other better. Everyone is so helpful.

I really like the way Bob_Scopatz gets passionate about his cup of coffee. And that he likes Ruggles of Red Gap, too.

I like rivka's hair. (And the fact that she's so much fun, of course.)
I like Frisco's chest-- especially gleaming with oil.
I like that KetchupPrinceConsort puts up with my nonsense in good humor. Among other things.
I like katharina's attitude.
I like beverly's sweetness-- and her voice!
I like Lucky4's sense of humor.
I like Megan's sharp wit.
I like Lyrhawn's taste in Star Wars books.
I like a whole bunch of other people. If I keep going, I'm going to have a mile-long post. Let's just say, I appreciate you all, and I'm thinking it, if not posting it.

I like how Raia always has something encouraging to say to others, even if she's feeling depressed herself.

Hatrack... I like the way the forum's background colors manage to be friendly, yellow and purple, yet not too strong, and pleasant to the eye.

I like Space Opera because she is so incredibly kind, and not to mention incredibly beautiful. Sometimes I find myself thinking, "How can a person be that gorgeous?" and then I remind myself it's because she's not like the rest of us mediocre humans - she's an angel dropped down from the sky above to bless us all with her beauty and kindness. We are so very lucky to have her.
Don't sneer. Everyone needs an ego boost once in awhile.

I like the way Space Opera takes matters into her own hands and waits for no one to shoulder a burden that she is unwilling to shoulder herself.

I like how popularity thread pop up on a regular basis here at Hatrack...
Ideally, we can find something nice to say about those among us who are NOT popular.
I commend you on this thread, or at leat the idea of it, but what these things always degenerate into is a popularity contest.
Someone will feel bad or left out because they were not being mentioned at all, and while the intent of this thread isn't to hurt anyone it will happen anyway.
This isn't the first attempt at this, you know...Hatrack is a fairly huggy-feely place compared to most place on the WWW.

I don't think it's huggy-feely at all. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure that Tante called me fat a few posts up....something about me being too heavy to carry on her shoulders.
Tante, I must admit that I always picture you as Sylvester the cat from Looney Tunes. At first it was just name association, but now it's become a full-fledged weirdo vision. I can't help but picture a large black and white cat perched in front of a computer, taking a break from trying to eat that stupid yellow bird.

I'm a little surprised by post #1 on this thread. It proceeds from an inaccurate perception of my life.

steven, I don't know your life, only your posts. And I've noticed that because some folk here don't agree with your posts, they see fit to ridicule you. I don't like to see anyone get picked on, and I wanted to not only let you know that, but also to let the ones who pick on you know that. I'm sorry if that offended you. I'll stop sticking up for you if it does.

Tante, I don't think anyone ridiculed steven because they disagreed with his posts. I think it's because he flat out insulted a lot of people on the board, calling them racist and pro-genocide.
There's a big difference between the two.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to think we were too harsh w/ steven, even though I might not agree. I just want to make sure the reasons are represented accurately.
If I was mean to everyone who disagreed with me no one would like me.
