Big doings lately, with the movie being premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival where tremendous response prompted organizers to announce two more screenings of the movie.

The first of the three comics in the Serenity miniseries came out last week to good reviews. Details here.

Also, a new poster was revealed at ComiCon Friday, apparently one of four designs (none of which will be the final movie poster). Warning, may be spoilerish. Link.

And demo CDs were passed out at the con with samples of tracks from the Serenity soundtrack by David Newman. You can download the samples at www.cantstopthesignal.co.uk . Warning: track titles may also be mildly spoilerish.

More info as it happens from the movie site.

I've never seen Firefly yet, does Serenity have anything to do with Firefly? Or do they just have the same writer?

Serenity is the movie continuation of Firefly, though having seen Firefly is not a requirement, and the continuity is apparently simplified in Serenity for the needs of exposition.

Yeah, Firefly starts running on Sci-Fi this Friday, right before Stargate SG-1. Best of all, they're showing it in the correct order this time, starting with "Serenity Part 1." [Smile]

What about Galactica and Atlantis? Why doesn't Sci Fi go after another night Joss and Tuesday go together like an MRE and a porta-john. Oh I guess I am assuming it all shows on Friday still, I have been out of the loop have the split the nights up? If they did they could grab two or even four nights a week!

The SciFi Friday schedule now runs: Firefly, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and then Battlestar Galactica. All on one glorious night.

The TV show soundtrack has been hinted at -- the composer said in an interview that he sent a CD's worth of music to FOX, and on www.foxmusic.com there's a Firefly logo under "Coming Soon" -- but not word yet.

One persistent fan ripped MP3s of a lot of the music from the DVD set, you can find those here, and various other versions are floating around the Firefly fan sites.

Yay! Someone at the movie site forum saw the screening at the San Diego ComiCon -- the first showing with the completed soundtrack -- and said there's an instrumental version of the Firefly theme song during the credits. Woo hoo! I was worried it would get left out.
