What's going to happen? Do you think they can really whale responsibly, or will it get out of hand? What about the endangered species they plan to hunt? Will hunting just go on and off and on and off? Or will this actually work?

Wow, isn't it amazing that they would suddenly launch a scheme like that just when they're about to do all this extra 'scientific' research on whales!
And isn't it great that the Japanese government has been giving financial incentives to landlocked countries like Mongolia to persuade them to sit on the IWC commission and vote in Japan's favour!
I would also eat a dog, cat guinei pig, horse, rat, squirril, or rabbit as well, and I feel no shame for those.

But I'm the jerk who heard about the plight of the Oaxacan barrell cactus (which is dwindling because locals cut them up illegally and make candy out of them) and then found some in the market to see what an endagered plant tasted like.

Yup. Hey look! They have a recipe for it online! I don't feel so bad.
And the pumpkin candy - I had it once years ago when a Mexican lady made it for us, but I was a picky little kid and didn't give it much of a chance.

What's disgusting is that whale meat was never a part of the traditional Japanese diet to start with. Even during the whaling era, I doubt that one in a thousand Japanese had ever tasted whale meat even once in their lifetime. So the Japanese government willingness to perjure itself with the "traditional cuisine" argument can only be to maintain its "right" to despoil the Earth as it pleases.

Well, they did mention that the whale in school lunches was only in the traditional "heartland of the whaling area".

Congratulations on your mission to Japan. So how long will you be at the Training Center? learning Japanese? or are you already familiar from anime? Do you get to stay online until you actually leave for Japan? or do you go offline at the Center?
