Something occured to me yesterday. The Voldemort soul piece in the diary horcrux from CoS, was able to suck the life force from Ginny in order to give him new life. This being the case, Voldemort could have created multiple versions of himself (clones) from other horcruxes in a similar fashion. The only weakness of these clones being that they are still tied to the object, hence by destroying the book Harry was able to destroy the youth incarnation of Voldemort, but the clones could keep the horcrux with them to keep them safe.
This seems to me a much better stratagy to me then hiding impotent horcruxes away. Killing 7 Voldemorts would be much more difficult than destroying passive objects. The only reason I can think not to do this would be the unwillingness to share power with yourself. What if one of your clones decided to kill you? Could you stop him?

I'd suggest you put this in the current Harry Potter thread. Or at least put spoilers up on the thread title, as some people who have not yet read the book may be upset.
