Actually their beef is supposedly really high quality and somewhat leaner than that of regular cows. Haven't read any reviews of how they taste.

This is one i've never heard of, and I know quite a few cattle breeders that have petting zoo's, so they probably aren't quite as popular as this sight wants us to believe, but could be cool.

It's getting to the point that maintaining a couple on the lawn to eat the grass will be cheaper than buying gasoline to maintain a lawnmower.

Especially if you do like my husband did - run the mower with no oil, ruining the engine. [Roll Eyes]

I know someone with a couple of miniature goats - I was thinking of asking her if I could borrow them for a day - to "mow" our lawn. [Wink]

Speaking of goats...goats are browsers not grazers, so they would be more likely to "prune" your bushes and trees than mow your lawn. Think of them as miniature deer, not funny looking sheep, and you've got the idea.

Goats may also eat things like your vegetable plants, your new outdoor seat cushions, and the wood of your new shed.

We had three goats for a while. They weren't good mowers at all, but they did help keep the sumac(sp?) in check.

Back to cows. I'm not sure if the ones described on this page (scroll down a little) are the same kind, but I want Dexter cattle. The main reason is because I vastly prefer cow milk to goat milk and beef to chevre. We currently keep goats, and I can't drink the milk by itself. But my husband can't drink cow's milk, so our ideal situation would be to keep both.

On one of the pages linked above, it describes mini-bulls as excellent watchdogs, willing to gore any intruders. To me, that sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Not something I would want to risk.
