I had been debating whether or not to preorder City of Villains. Two of the main advantages to preordering is you get a chance at being in the beta, and when the servers start up for real you get access 2 days earlier. I've never really started any of this sort of game right at the beginning, and always wanted to.
Today I read this interview and found out that the lead writer for CoV is the guy who designed Deadlands! That's an awesome pen and paper rpg, for those of you who don't know. That pretty much cynched it, and I have now preordered through EB.

I'd gone another few months without playing CoH, but got back into it a bit this week. The lair-building and raids of CoV intrigues me. I was pretty much up in the air though until finding out about Shane Hensley. Deadlands is awesome for story and atmosphere, so I'm really looking forward to what he brings to CoV.
