Here is a cool interview of an [Adult Swim] official about Evangelion and their upcoming fall lineup. Very cool for us anime fans!

Just click on the Evangelion banner for the interview.

Actually, I think that while separate, both endings are mediocre, together they create a wonderful, appropriate ending.

You think so Taalcon? I found both of them... Jeez... how do I explain what I thik about them...

I guess Inconsistant with the rest of the series. Having a different feel to them. Moments were good but the climax and the over all feel of both endings were completely different than the rest of the series.

However, it's still worth watching for the joy is in the journey, not the destination.

They should show anime on tv in the original japenese with subtitles.

With the exception of Gundam Wing, Escaflowne, and possibly Kenshin.

Gods... Eva is imo the best anime out there.
And I think the endings are perfect. [Smile]

At the climax of Evangelion, Archangel Gabriel himself comes down as the final messanger from the Divine. Taking the shape of a 15 yr old boy named Kaoru he shows Shinji his first and only love. In the Scriptues and Apocrypha Gabriel is prophesized to bring the Last Great Song at the End of Days. And some theologians in real life have speculated that "Ode to Joy" IS that song. Doubly important since "Ode to Joy" is one of those seminal Human works that justifies our existance in the Universe. Coupled with the fact that "Ode to Joy" is all about destiny...well... WOW is all I can say.

One of the first times that God actually pays attention to Human deeds is the murder of Able by Cain. And when Shinji and Kaoru fall into Terminal Dogma at last, we see the red eye of God looking down. This battle has finally gotten the full attention of God. With the 9th blasting we can almost see all the heavenly host singing Kaoru/Gabriel on to fulfill divine law.

But he doesn't do it! He, as Amassador of Heaven, surrenders! God and the divine realize the beauty and love of Humanity...and they allow themselves to be defeated... for Humans to take their place as the new God.

That is one of the most beautiful themes in Evengelion... that in the end even with all of humanity's evil and power-hunger the divine love us SO MUCH that they will accept their own death instead of ours.

The final two episodes show us not only how humanity deals with suddenly becoming "one with everything", but also the primal motivations within all of us.

Bah.
They are a superb testament to human nature.

I had a change to buy all of Rahxephon for $40 once...

Telp...Rahxephon is good. $40 is a sweet price for it. I have a... hmmm... fansubbed version of it, (although I buy the original DVDs when I can), since it's not so easy to get the original one here in the depths of 3rd world ;-).

What other interesting Animes have you seen recently? Would you like some tips?

Paranoia Agent and Fooly Cooly are really cool. I've been into that lately. Grave of the Fireflies as well.
Should I get that RahX series?

I bought Paranoia Agent, but did not watch it yet. Rahx is very good, I think. Now...Grave of the Fireflies... the saddest (albeit superb) anime ever made.

Do you know "Howl's Moving Castle", Telp?

Howl's Moving Castle was awesome! Have you guys seen Miyazaki's other stuff? Spirited Away, Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, Castle in the Sky, and Princes Mononoke? I bought a bunch of the DVD's but have only watched a few.

Yup. I have all of his early works, including some not as well known, such as "Porco Rosso", "Kiki's Delivery Service", "Totoro", etc. Miyazaki is truly the japanese animation's Disney.

Better than Disney because what he does is never cliche or formulaic.
I'd compare him instead to a world class director that uses animation instead of live action.

I didn't like Kiki as much. Yes, it's beautiful but it... I dunno.. it's missing something next to Mononoke Hime, Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away.

If you're looking for series anime I'd recommend Azumanga Daiou. it's kinda kiddy but really funny once you know the characters.

I also enjoyed Mai Hime. It's your typical anime "High school with super powers" type thing but it gets dark about half way through.

If you want something cute and can get past the goofy primise, try Midori No Hibi. Midori goes to sleep and wakes up to find she has litterally become the right hand of the boy she has a crush on.
