I've been using Google Talk for about a week now, and there are two issues about it:

1) I know no Hatrackers that have it except for two, and I want to talk to you all in IM;

2) It refused to connect to the server. So I restarted - no help; disabled my firewall - that's now what's stopping it; reinstalled - and it now says "could not connect to server" - won't connect N'matterwhat.

Please help me solve these two problems (as I know nothing about networking). Thank you.

Jonathan

I'd talk, but the actual Google Talk program is for Windows only. It's true that you can use the same server with iChat, but it's not the same really. I mean it's basically like using AIM.

As for the second problem, I'm not sure. My Gmail iChat account has come back a few times saying it couldn't connect to the server, but usually if it I just attempted to reconnect again it would work. So I'm not sure what's going on with yours.

What is your connection to the internet? Phone modem? DSL modem? Cable modem? Do you have a wireless router or any other router or do you connect your computer directly to the modem? Do you have other IM services that work?

My guess is that Google Talk is having trouble.

Is there a forum where you can go to see if other users are having trouble?

Anyway, my comment about not using it is because I'm not sure I see the reason to use yet another IM service. Of course, the fact I can't audio or video chat using it (I'm using a Mac) is why I don't like it.

Google Talk is great. I recommend it.

Thanks. I'm still having problems, though.
