I've touted this German gaming site off and on for a while now. . . visited it this afternoon and was quite impressed with the changes they've made.

http://www.brettspielwelt.de

Change the language to English; click 'Register' to make a new user login; click 'Not a member of Bretspielwelt,' and go through the short registration process. (Birthdays are expressed in standard European format-- DD/MM/YYYY.)

After registering, you can join the games.

A CLIENT IS NO LONGER REQUIRED! GAMES ARE IN JAVA, NOW!

If you set your language to English, you are taken to Englishtown. There's a tower in the middle of the graphic that reads 'Games Galore' if you roll your mouse cursor over it. Click there. It will take you to another screen that looks like a staircase winding upward. On the right of the java window, you'll see a small board with the words 'Wahle in Spiel.' Click on that board, and you'll get yet another screen with some treasure chests on them.

These are the games. Settlers of Catan is 'Die Siedler von Catan.' Carcasonne is Carcasonne, but there are several different versions of it.

Click on the game you want to play, and it will take you to a graphic of a row of tables. Click Gameyell, and I think it sends out a general invite to play that particular game. When you see the gameboard, click reset, then join (under the game menu at the top of the java windo). You can click start when you've got enough players.

A word about Settlers-- the default play is 'Tournament' mode. You get one town, one city, and three roads at the beginning of the game. There's a way to set it to normal play, but I haven't figured it out yet.
