I'm psyched and bummed.

They run these ads in the newspapers here where you can send in an e-mail and maybe win tickets to an advance screening of a movie. I've seen Hellboy and Fantastic Four for free that way. I crapped out on Just Like Heaven last week, but I nailed Flightplan.

My partner and I were both psyched. Jodie Foster was probably one of my first crushes (along with Kristy McNichol), and she is just amazingly talented.

I know people are comparing this to a cross between The Forgotten and Panic Room, but I doubt it. Jodie Foster doesn't need to make movies any more, and when she does, I suspect there's something special to be seen.

Anyway, I'll report back.

Oh, right. That accounts for the "psyched". The "bummed" is that my partner has parent-teacher conferences tonight and can't make it. She insisted that I go anyway, though.

I've seen too many airplane inspired movies lately. That tied to my general dislike of Jodie Foster steers me pretty clear of this movie.

I've seen The Forgotten, and I've seen the Panic Room, and it really doesn't look like a cross between the two, so much as a remake of The Forgotten. Is there a daughter? Isn't there a daughter? Well there's the plot to The Forgotten right there. Wait, there IS a daughter but she was kidnapped!? Still the plot to The Forgotten, only we're substituting a girl for a boy. Seems like all they did was change a few details then tossed them on a plane and took off.

If it turns out to be different, someone please tell me and I may go see it, but otherwise I don't have the money to see a different version of a movie I've already seen.

Also, plenty of actors have enough money to the point where they will never have to act again, and the majority of them still do. None of the stars of Friends ever have to act again, and for some god awful reason, "Joey" is still on the air.

Actually, it reminded me of one of L'Engle's books, where Poly is kidnapped on the plane while Adam is supposed to be watching her?

The Arm of the Starfish, that's it.

I suspect there won't be an atrocious ending of the type they committed in The Forgotten.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to it. Lyrhawn, I won't post spoilers, but I'll let you know if it's the kind of thing you're thinking of.

Red Eye was also a big surprise for me. I took a chance, despite the fact that it was Wes Craven (I do not like horror movies), and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was an action/suspense film.

Appreciate it [Smile]

If it isn't The Forgotten remade, I might take a look at it.

It is most definitely not The Forgotten. Nor is it Panic Room (although there was a brief snippet aof a minute duration that was a little reminiscent of it).

This movie is what The Forgotten should have been. It's what Panic Room should have been. I was a dozen times more on edge throughout the film than I was when I saw Red Eye.

A couple of times during the movie, I shook myself loose and tried to guess what was going on. I wasn't even close.

There are no cheats in this movie. If you saw The Forgotten, you know what a cheat that was. If you saw Panic Room, the suspense just wasn't very suspenseful, because you knew what was happening the whole time. You just didn't know what the motive was.

This movie will get you.

And lest I forget, Jodie Foster was awesome! I mean, she ran through a range of emotions during the course of this movie that was just unbelievable. Except that it was very believable.

I'm so glad that I got to see it, and so bummed that my partner didn't.
